Polaris was inspired by the love of nature, the environment and spirituality. Beautiful lyrics and melodies with great instrumentation create an ambience of true well-being. The use of traditional recording techniques and natural vocal harmonies enhance the beauty of Polaris.
’I t’s a wonderful experience working with Yani, one of todays truly great song writers and musicians. The making of Polaris has been an incredible adventure for me personally, and it’s a true honour, joy and privilege to work with her. A truly inspiring and special piece of work. We hope you find joy in this music’ - Jamie Brewster
’Life in a Day’ is a great opening track and gives direction to the album. Be absorbed by ’Florence’ and Praia Azul’ Feel the joy of ’Zerenthia’ and ’The Water’s Journey. Be reflective in Navy Blue’. Be inspired and immersed in tranquility in the Polaris Suite. Be inspired and immersed in tranquility of the Polaris Suite; K’ou Huku has been recorded as an old vintage Hawaiian record! Enjoy our album.
’The first thing you hear is a blissful mix of nature sounds and celestial vocal harmonies; then, in come gurgling retro electronics and Yani Martinelli’s voice leading a soothingly breezy pastoral psych delicacy. Opener ’Life In A Day’ perfectly sets the mood of the Venezuela-born, Madrid-based songwriter’s eight album. This is music in deep communion with flora and fauna, delicately trippy melodic pop that evades time and inhabits a dreamlike place. There are elements of tropicalia (’Praia Azul’) and bubbling electronic passages. At times you’ll find yourself thinking of a wyrd-folk version of Stereolab (’Bruna Stays’), or that same band unearthing a certain affinity with The Sandpipers (’Florence’). Other times, like on the utterly pretty ’Zerynthia Rumina’, it’s The Beach Boys circa Smiley Smile you’ll be reminded of. None of this is surprising, considering that string and piano arrangements come courtesy of Sean O’Hagan. A match made in sunshine-pop heaven for sure. Camilla Aisa’
